Christmas in Utah

I just realized that I never posted this...

Friday the 18th after Scott finished up his classes he headed home to tidy our apartment and get the laundry done. He did a fabulous job! Our apartment was feeling very neglected since we were so busy. I was at work until 9:00 pm then came home to finish the laundry and help Scott pack for our trip. We decided to stay up as late as we could, so we watched a bunch of episodes of The Office and went to bed around 1:00 am. Lame that we couldn't handle staying up later than that.

Our flight left Des Moines at about 6:00 am so we got out of bed at 4:00, grabbed our bags, and headed to the airport. Since we didn't check any bags we were able to skip the long lines and get through security quickly enough. We flew through Denver and landed in Salt Lake at 10:00 am (although to us it felt like it was already well past noon). We went to breakfast with my dad, did some shopping at Costco, and spent some time with family and friends.

Sunday we went to church with dad, Sean and Cherish before going to Misty's house for a visit. It was great to see everyone - especially the kids. Gage is turning six in a few weeks, Hailie is three and turning into a chatterbox, and little Parker is getting so big! He is now trying to stand and smiling a lot. After visiting with Misty we stopped by Grandma Eastland's house to say hello. It was so nice to be there! Grandma and I email each other a lot, but it's nice to be in person. For Christmas I made her a little photo magnet with a picture I took of a sunset along the Oregon coast. Her birthday is on the 28th and she will be 92!

Early afternoon Cherish and I had a mini bakefest before we all met at mom's house for Sunday dinner. Alan made lasagna (delish!) and we had a great time with almost everyone together. We got to meet little Sam who is now two months old and it was wonderful! We also got to play with Aeris (who is also turning six in a few weeks) and Oliver (who is two). They are so fun to play with! Oliver is starting to talk a lot more now which is a lot of fun. We also got to meet little Samwise who is the recent addition to the family. He is adorable!

After time at mom's with family we went back to my dad's where we had a shindig for our friends to come by, have snacks, and say hello. We had a great turnout and were so glad to see so many friends in such a short time! Also, the snacks were superb. :)

Monday we had a family Christmas party (no gifts included) and it was nice to spend more time with everyone. We had a great dinner and a nice evening together. Tuesday we spent more time with family and friends. Overall, it was wonderful being in Utah! I miss it more every day, so it was nice to be back after a 4 1/2 month absence. Hopefully we'll be back soon!

  1. This is super random, and I don't know what made me remember this, but I remember Cherish painting my toenails at your house after we went boating for your birthday party. Haha, fun memory...
